What you can do with a juicer. Part 1: juice

Yes, dear reader, you have read correctly. You can actually make juice with a juicer. No joke!
I like juice. Actually even more than smoothies. Juice bars are replacing smoothie bars now and so slowly but surely the hip shops from England and the United States are also sloshing over to us. No British organic supermarket and no Californian shopping center that does not get by without juice station. And even with us there are more and more providers of freshly pressed super juices. 3-day juice cures are the latest craze, there are detox juices, liver cleansing juices, waxing juices, etc.
Now I do not want to just feed on juices and make a total health hype around it. I just like juice - for me it's the easiest way to process vegetables, fruits and herbs. I feel awake afterwards and also saturated and just fit.

The difference between juice and smoothie is quite simple: for smoothie you use the whole part of the fruit or the vegetables and finely chop it up, then put it in to drink viscous form. This also absorbs plenty of fiber and plant fibers. The juice is also all the nutrients again, but the pure fiber, so the squeezed plant fibers remain. As a result, you have the juice almost a light variant. And with the pomace you can also do a lot on request. Not only does he do a great job on the compost - as you can still use him secondhand, I show you in a later post also.

But juice is not the same juice and so I have for half Year a Kuvings Whole Slow Juicer * in use. With only 60 rpm, the juice yield of such a slow juicer is significantly higher than with a normal centrifugal juicer. The pomace is much drier, the juice hardly releases any foam, water and fruit do not separate and allegedly remain more vitamins and minerals contained in the juice. In a normal centrifugal juicer, the ingredients are finely chopped and squeezed out at high speed - this brings more oxygen to the juice, also creates heat. The nutrients go faster and the water content of the juice settles quickly on the surface.

After a long research on the internet, this model has particularly appealed to me, so I asked the Perfect Health Shop * for a test device.
After prolonged use, I can confirm all the hoped-for benefits and would like to introduce you to the device now a little closer. If you are also looking for a juicer, this will hopefully help you. I will not give it anyhow!

Granted, with 399 €, this device is not exactly in the lower price segment and the purchase will be well considered. However, the quality is excellent and the result can convince me completely, so that the juicer is used several times a week for me and is always ready in my kitchen ready. The purchase is not worthwhile for use once a month - but then the use of a simple Zentrifugalentsafters enough. However, if you drink fresh juice on a regular basis and count on buying freshly squeezed juices, the purchase will pay off quickly.

THE DEVICE

Weight: 6.4 kg (net weight)
Engine: 240 Watt
Worm rpm. approximatelyThis results in a higher juice yield and a much drier pomace than in conventional juicers.

For preparation, the ingredients should be cut into 5-10 cm pieces and filled slowly. The juicer is switched on via a start button and can be left running during the entire juicing process while gradually adding the pieces. Due to the width of the 7.5 cm feed tube, you could even add smaller apples to it completely, but I prefer to cut the parts a bit smaller so that the juicer does not get clogged.
The second button sets the reverse if the juicer does should clog. As a result, the pieces are pushed up again. With the help of a filler plug, you can easily push them and lighter ingredients such as herbs or grasses down. It is recommended to squeeze the juiciest varieties first and then let everything else go through afterwards. But I prefer to always change - purely emotionally, I think that comes out the most.
For apples and pears, it is sufficient to prepare for example, only the stem to remove - core casing and cores can be pressed with. For citrus fruits only the outer shell has to be removed, the white part can also be juiced with.

CLEANING

I especially like this juicer because it saves space and, above all, lightly To clean is: the few parts are quickly assembled and disassembled, thanks to a practical essay, the juice strainer can be cleaned in no time under running water and two small brushes ensure that all other parts are clean in just a few minutes> It does not matter that the items are not dishwasher safe.

THE JUICE

The result is impressive: the juice yield is low laublich high, the pomace for it all the drier. There are hardly any losses. Some pulp is always present when squeezing, but no water is deposited in this type of juicing. The juice can therefore be stored overnight in the fridge without spoiling or separating.

One of my absolute favorite recipes for getting started is the following for a carrot-apple-ginger juice. It is rich in pectins, carotenes, vitamins such as vitamins A and C and minerals such as potassium and iron and gives the ginger its sharpness. Start with small amounts of ginger (about the size of a thumbnail) and slowly feel your way to the sharpness. Meanwhile I drink a 5 cm piece of ginger in a glass of juice, which pulls the shoes out of a less well-versed ginger friend.
Of course, this juice can also be made in a simple centrifugal juicer. He is a very simple entry-level recipe with only three ingredients and helps to develop a feel for the juicer.

So much for a start - what the Kuving Whole Slow Juicer * but still can, I'll show you in the next part - then it goes on with a really nice green juice!
